Welcome to this week's newsletter.
Sadly, golf participation has been limited over the last week or so due to the weather. Which can put a little pressure on those of us who are writing weekly newsletters! Thankfully the Tennis section have come to my rescue this week and on a very windy but dry day on the tennis courts at Thurlestone. A full compliment of 16 players dressed up in silly hats and played some pretty good tennis despite the conditions.
Two round robin groups called Santa and Rudolph produced a semi final knock out for first and second placed and a semi final knock out for the third and fourth placed pairs from each group. With most of the other players watching from the protection of the shed these matches took place in increasingly difficult conditions so all credit to those who battled on.
3rd and 4th place final: David Martin & Sue Curry beat Anna Martin & Tsai Gardner 3-1
1st and 2nd place final: Allan Duguid and Cathy Shea beat Kit Marshall & Liz Davies 3-2
Afterwards in the club house with hot soup, mince pies and mulled wine Janet Richardson presented the winners and runners up with bauble medals and an extra prize to Pat Clarke who produced the finest hat of the day.
The Juniors also ventured out in the fierce winds last Saturday in their Monthly Competition. I'm sure that being lower to the ground does have it's benefits as the scores were very good despite the conditions.
Congu Players - 1st Charlie Evans 2nd Finn Whelan 3rd Sammy Ingham Non-Congu - 1st Alfie Messias 2nd Noah Mulligan 3rd Toby White
The Proshop Christmas Draw will take place this Sunday after the Men's Greensomes competition at approximately 3.30pm. If you haven't already got your tickets they are £1 each with the first Prize a Motocaddy Electric Trolley and Second Prize a Skycaddie watch.
If you fancy one of these great prizes plus a few others you only have a few days to get your tickets. And finally, thanks to all those who came along and joined us for mulled wine and mince pies last Friday. It's always great to catch up with you all.
