Welcome to this weeks newsletter,
With the weather rapidly improving (kiss of death!), it's great to see many golfers getting out on the course. With spring and summer fast approaching now is an excellent time to get yourself prepared for the new season, today we are talking trolleys!
Many golfers at the club use electric and push trolleys but think little more than charging the battery after each round. Just like a car, trolleys need to be serviced and looked after regularly! Whilst there are only a few moving parts it is important to keep all axles and wheels lubricated to ensure smooth motoring. Without proper care, this can lead to excessive wear and tear on batteries and shortened life span of the trolley.
As a Motocaddy and Powakaddy authorised repair and service centre we are always on hand to assist with any trolley issues. As a March special we will be offering a £10 trolley MOT until the end of the month. For this we will check your trolley, battery and charger in order to see their current condition. This will also include re-greasing where necessary and reporting back of any work that might be considered to improve the performance of your trolley.
Caring for your trolley
In the mean time we would like to remind you of some simple tips to improve the life of your battery:
- Always charge your battery straight after your round, the battery is not designed to be used on subsequent days without charging, eg. 9 holes Tuesday, 9 holes Wednesday. - It is important to only use an approved charger with your battery. Using a lithium charger with lead acid battery will not charge the battery correctly. - There are many factors which can affect the longevity of your battery through the round. Weight of the bag, condition of the trolley, ground conditions and using the trolley to pull you up hills can all play a big part! It is important to try not to carry anything unnecessary! - A lead acid battery should never be used unless fully charged, 'top up' or quick charges will add power but effect the lifetime of the battery. Lithium batteries however can be used and topped up but should be fully charged for maximum capacity.
If you are unsure of caring for your trolley or battery please feel free to see us in store for more details or click here to ask us a question.

Picture this…
Your ball bouncing through the club car park, causing significant damage! Cars can be easily repaired at a price, but the situation could be a whole lot worse if you strike a fellow golfer, or passer-by. We want our members to be covered against such perils – and there are many more, such as theft and loss of golf club subscription - so speak to us about getting covered with Golf Care.
