The Thurlestone Junior Team were in action again at the weekend, this time playing in the second round of the Basil Steer Cup, against a strong team from Honiton Golf Club, on neutral ground at Stover. 

This year's Junior Captain, George Holland went out first playing against a six handicapper, and fellow Devon player, and managed to secure victory early in his match winning 6 and 4. 

Next out was Ethan Bellamy, who managed to get into a really strong position of 3 up, early in the match, only to be pegged back to be 1 down on the 18th, which meant he had to work hard to secure the half. Ethan proceeded to hit a massive drive down the middle of the fairway, followed by a great approach shot to get the half that was needed and deserved. 

The final match was played by George Messias, who had been cut 3 shots to 14 after playing in the May medal, the day before. Due to the handicap cut George had to give his opponent 8 shots, however this didn't seem to bother him in the slightest and he went 4 up, on the front nine. His opponent came strong on the back nine which meant they were all square going down the 17th, however George managed to get the half needed on the 18th and the match was won by Thurlestone 2-1.
