A long time coming
Welcome to this week's newsletter. I hope that you have all been inspired by the weekends US Masters Tournament which made compulsive viewing. Augusta never fails to deliver an amazing finale but were you rooting for Justin Rose or Sergio Garcia?
For me, it was Sergio, as I was desperate to see him win his first major after all these years of trying, which of course he did in style. As the only player to break par in all four rounds at Augusta National Golf Club during the Masters, Sergio Garcia, with 71, 69, 70 and 69, he was the worthy winner of an exciting contest from which European Golf in general can take great encouragement.
At the 74th attempt Sergio Garcia is finally a major champion. Prior to last week's Masters tournament at Augusta National, the Spaniard was widely referred to as one of the best golfers to never have won a major title - but not anymore.
Friends, Ryder Cup teammates and long-term golfing rivals Garcia and Rose shared the overnight lead going into the final round and produced a thrilling battle in their quests for a maiden Green Jacket. After 72 holes there was nothing to separate the two Europeans, and so a sudden-death playoff followed. A wayward drive into the trees by Rose at the first playoff hole paved the way for Garcia to win his first major crown.
Not many people can argue with the outcome; Sergio was the only golfer to card four under-par rounds around one of golf's toughest tests. A fitting champion.

As many of you will know I was lucky enough to take a few Thurlestone members as part of a larger group to see this years Tournament and as you can see from the pictures below we had an amazing time. Pam even took the Thurlestone Bear with his Club Sweater on! We stayed 8 nights in Columbia, South Carolina which is about 1 hours drive from Augusta National. We played 4 rounds of golf at various local courses and had 2 days at the Masters in Augusta.
I have only been back 24 hours and I am already planning next years Trip to Augusta. If any of you fancy a Trip to next years Masters and would like some more information and prices please contact me.
We look forward to seeing you all at the Club over the Easter Holidays.
