The importance of warming up It never ceases to amaze me how many of you do not warm up before you go out to play.
Just this week I have had 2 pupils who have come to see me because they feel that they need to get more distance with their shots. This is not that unusual and there are a number of ways in which we could increase the distance you hit your shots, you could of course get yourself down to the gym, change your equipment or golf ball or even have a few lessons to improve your technique. Or maybe you should simply ‘warm up!’
It can’t be that simple I here you say. Well it might not be a silver bullet, but by warming up we have a much better chance of achieving our full potential from our very first shot on the first tee.
If you look at the data from this pupils first 6 shots you can see that after 6 shots their clubhead speed has increased by nearly 10mph. This means that they have gained 25 yards in distance from their first shot to their 6th shot and that might be the difference between carrying the ditch on the first or putting your first shot of the day into the drink! Not the best of starts, I think you’ll will agree! |
