You have nothing to fear

Recently, you may have seen a few requests in our weekly emails asking you to create your golfing profile or confirm your email address for GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) purposes.

As you might be aware, GDPR is new legislation coming into effect at the end of May, so we are taking the opportunity now to update your details. Not only does this give us the chance to confirm that we have your correct information, but it also provides us with the ability to personalise your weekly emails to suit your golfing preferences. If you have not yet updated your details, please do so now. It will take you less than a minute.

Masters review

Reed more about it

There's nothing quite like turning on the TV at the beginning of April to watch the very best golfers tackle one of the hardest courses in the world. With pristine fairways, treacherous greens and flowers in full bloom, Augusta National looked nothing short of a golfing paradise once again over the weekend.

The 2018 Masters tournament had it all. From Tom Watson's highlight reel Par-3 Contest triumph and Finau's ankle popping hole-in-one celebration on Wednesday, to Garcia's four shots into the water on the 15th the first day proper, to Jordan Spieth's near course record and Patrick Reed's maiden Major victory on Sunday.

Each day had its own story but the week belonged to the young American who collected his first Green Jacket thanks to belittling Augusta's par-5s over the first three days (-13 for 12 holes) and a series of clutch putts on Sunday afternoon, none more so than on his final two holes to win by one from Rickie Fowler.

Having just returned from a wonderful week’s golf out at the US Masters with a group of Thurlestone members it seems only right that we should start this week by announcing the winners of our Proshop Masters Sweepstake.

Titleist Ball Fitting

We have been very lucky to have had the Titleist ball fitting guys down today talking about golf balls with some of our members. They have been handing out some samples and discussing how important it is to choose the right ball. Remember, it’s one of the few pieces of equipment you use on every shot! How can you expect consistent results when you use a different ball each time?!

If you’re still one of those few who has a pocket full of ‘found’ golf balls, we would love to opportunity to talk to you! It can be one of the cheaper but most rewarding purchases you can make for your game and no, we aren’t going to suggest everyone starts using Pro V1’s at £45 a box!

Balls in the shop start from just £6.99 per sleeve and even cheaper when purchased as a multi-buy. The feel from one ball from the next can be quite different and we think you will be surprised at the improvement it can make to your game. There is a reason we stock so many different models and we would be happy to spend some time to educate you on the differences.

Dates for your diary

Friday 13th April- 5pm-7pm- Junior Club Nights.

If you are a Junior member then come down to the Club ready to play for 4.45pm and we will arrange different formats each week.

The Clubhouse also have their Fish and Chip Night on a Friday so don’t forget you can book in advance if you would like to eat on a Friday Night because it will get busy!

Get Into Golf

We are running some Get into Golf sessions here at the Club again this year. These are aimed at adults who are either trying to Get Back Into Golf or are new to the game.

There will be 6 x 1 hours sessions on a Saturday morning from 10.00am -11.00am starting on Saturday 28th April. All equipment will be provided and the cost will be £40 per person.

If you know anyone who would be interested in these lessons please contact me in the Proshop as spaces will be limited.
