Some of you will remember former member, Matt Messias, who played with his two sons: Alfie and George at Thurlestone. Matt and his family moved back to Yorkshire to be nearer family in 2019 and Matt is now making a name for himself as a Mental Game Coach.

As a Premier League and International Football referee, Matt had to consistently make effective decisions under intense pressure.

This experience, alongside his many coaching and psychology qualifications, has enabled him to help sportspeople perform at their best when they need it most - when they are under pressure!

Following on from his success in 2020 as Mental Toughness Coach to Dan Thomas and Max Berrisford (1st & 2nd respectively in the Yorkshire Order of Merit), Matt is now offering Thurlestone Members the unique opportunity to attend an 8-session virtual programme from January to April 2021 delivered via Zoom-fully interactive and engaging.

Golf on Tour

A look ahead at what's to come...

2020 was a year like no other, both in golf and in the world as a whole. However, with 2021 now upon us, let’s take a look at some of the events for us golf fans to get excited about this year…

Firstly, The Masters returns to its April date (I hope), just five months on from Dustin Johnson’s record-breaking win back in November. This is followed by three more Majors in the men's game and five in the women's, including the one that got away in 2020: The Open Championship!

To top it all off, we have both the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup in the same month - September. Let’s hope Team Europe are partying twice this September! Oh, and let's not forget about the Olympics!

Something to work towards

Come rain or shine, golfers never need an excuse to dust off the cobwebs and get onto the course. So, with lots of golf to (hopefully) look forward to in 2021, there's no better time to conjure up some golf-based resolutions for the year ahead.

You may have decided you’d like to reduce the number of three-putts you have each round (don't we all!) or to get less frustrated when you hit a bad shot. Whatever your resolutions are, we're here to help in any way possible.

Walking in a winter wonderland

Long walks are as much a part of the festive season as eating too much turkey and dozing on the sofa afterwards. Greg Norman once said ‘Happiness is a long walk with a putter’. Now, it would be a little odd to take your putter on a festive walk, but one thing you'll definitely need is a good jacket!
