Powers of Putting - Putting Clinic this Friday
With the Masters rapidly approaching I thought it necessary to focus on the short game. When watching Augusta next week, pay special attention to the care on the greens by the Professionals.
Augusta is widely known as one of the hardest and toughest short game tests. With extremely quick greens and great undulations (not always seen on the TV!) many times you will see the players aiming in the complete opposite direction to the flag.
Not all of us can relate to the way the guys on the television play; however we can look at certain aspects of their game and look to introduce it into ours.
Two key points where all golfers can improve is shot selection around the green and distance putting.
Many golfers will focus on having the 'perfect' swing or hitting longer drivers, but taking 4 shots to get down from the edge of the green is what really ruins a score!
For the average golfer well over 50% of your shots will be from 50 yards and in. If you could reduce the number of 3 putts or poor chips, how much would you improve?
Next time you're out on the golf course, record how many putts you take per hole, see how many times you have a chip shot and fail to get down in two. Without knowing, it's hard to tell where you can improve! To compare, Jordan Spieth has averaged just 27.30 Putts per round this year. That's almost 9 shots better than the average 2 putts per hole. Is it any wonder he's rapidly climbing both leaderboards and the world rankings?
10 Minutes Pre-Round to help judge pace or even a quick putt around the putting green can knock shots off your game!
If you feel like you need a little help with your putting, we have our Putter Clinic this Friday (Good Friday) for you to come along to. If you'd like to improve your scores, call us today and book in. We'd be happy to help!
