3 signs to look out for

We all approach the game of golf differently...

Much like other aspects of our golf equipment, the more rundown our glove gets the less effective it’s going to be for us. Wedges with the grooves worn away won’t give you the spin you’re looking for, and tattered golf grips are going to hinder you from hitting the ball just right.

Today we want to give you examples of how our gloves can get damaged as well as give you some fantastic glove recommendations in the form of the latest range from TaylorMade.

The weather

How many times have you got caught playing golf in the rain and found your glove needs to be placed on the radiator at home in order to dry out?

Besides being unpleasant to the touch, a wet glove is susceptible to being damaged from the moisture. Wet leather can become stiff and lose it’s flexibility. This can cause the glove to potentially crack or shrink, and it will no longer fit you properly.

Use over time

The natural oils in our skin can be a big culprit that wears down golf gloves over time. These gloves sit very close to our skin and have a constant exposure to us when we’re moving around and sweating.

Because we touch so much with our hands, there can be small bits of debris that build up in our gloves that we’re happily unaware of. When you pick your ball out the hole or rake a bunker, you might be unwittingly transporting some dirt or sand from the course into our glove.

General wear & tear

Something else to consider is that since we have the same hand set-up each time we grip our clubs, the same sections of the glove and grip are coming into contact with the same parts of our palms and fingers.

This not only wears away at your club’s grip but on your glove too, so the same locations on your glove are getting worn over use. This is why you’ll develop rips and tears in specific areas whereas say the back of your hand is relatively unscathed.

We’d like to take a moment to inform you about all the fantastic gloves from TaylorMade you can currently find in the pro shop. If you’re thinking of adding a new glove to your bag, you can’t go wrong with one of these!
